Proudly served on board 1982-1984. The 'Chon was one of 10 ships I served on in 24.5 years. Retired April '96. Made 4 West Pac's and 7 Med cruises and numerous Caribbean jaunts for reftra and Missile exercises. Last 4 years at Camp Pendleton Ca. with the LCAC unit. Overall, wish I could do it again but as the old saying says "all good things must come to an end". I never got a chance but I would like to thank Ens. Delaney(now Captain) for sponsoring me when I made Chief in 1982.
